Today= Hot, Sticky, Vintage Success!

Went vintage hunting today well AFTER I was ready to be home sitting in front of a fan with my feet up. Neither of the antique shops I visited today have air conditioner (hey, it's the mountains) and it was unbearable. I like to haggle when I vintage shop because, hello, i'm trying to make a profit here. So today, per usual, I attempted to talk down a couple of items I bought from one Boone antique dealer who will go unnamed. She seemed to be offended by my bargaining? Uhhh ma'am, if your prices are firm then just say so.

her: "Well you see, this belonged to my sister."
me: "Ok, so you're not willing to take that price for it?"
her: "You see these things are really hard to find."
me: "Ok, i'll pass"
her: "Well, you are buying several things. Ok, i'll do it for that price."
me: (thought bubble) Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

To top it off she doesn't even have regular business hours! She is open when she wants to be?! Come on lady, you can't have your cake and eat it too.

Anywho, I found some fab finds like...vintage cheese graters that also hang dish towels, a couple of vintage tins, a vintage nautical clock that also keeps track of the tide, a wicked cool vintage ashtray with "Jerusalem" and an Isalei skyline on it, a barrel mug, and a pair of vintage baby s & p shakers. Wheeew!

All I wanted was a cool shower after all of that.

Killer.........................................new item

Look at this great 1950's turtle bell that some great friends of mine gifted to me! Press it's head or tail and you hear a ring that is reminiscent of an antique telephone! Apparently used originally to "call the help" by a 1950's upper-middle/upper class woman ;) Loves it!

PS I linked the picture to the listing in case you want to check out close-ups of it.

To Do:

I must must must go vintage hunting soon, running out of items to list and need my fix. Back to work tomorrow (yes, found a part time gig offered by some gracious friends so I can survive while I job hunt) but only 4 hours so maybe in the afternoon given the inevitable rain that will come and ruin my chance to run or go to the dog park.
Visited an old friend this weekend, here are some pics (look at those cuties):
Oh, and I am officially a P-LCSW (this means I am a provisionally licensed therapist).

A look ahead...

The first picture is of the cutest vintage napkin rings known to man. The 2nd pic is of some earrings I made recently (yes, I am not completely engulfed in vintage :) but which I need to re-shoot cause the current photographs are not up to my standards. The 3rd pic is of a cute little Raggedy Ann doll I found. She may or may not make it to etsy. I think she would make a good photo prop. Lastly, a stunning compote dish that I found for a steal. Most of these will likely show up in my store very soon!

Not to toot my horn but, this is one killer Treasury

I aspire to have photos like these one day and I know it will happen, as soon as I move to a new house.

Shewwwwwwwwwweeeeeee Look at these Babies!

My pics aren't great I know, would have liked to have a shot of them hanging on a white wall but my living situation does not allow for that right now (this will change soon-thankfully). Anyway, these prints are freaking amazing. When I saw them I thought for sure that I wouldn't be buying them because they were in such perfect condition and were likely expensive. Not!

Vintage Patchwork
