Went vintage hunting today well AFTER I was ready to be home sitting in front of a fan with my feet up. Neither of the antique shops I visited today have air conditioner (hey, it's the mountains) and it was unbearable. I like to haggle when I vintage shop because, hello, i'm trying to make a profit here. So today, per usual, I attempted to talk down a couple of items I bought from one Boone antique dealer who will go unnamed. She seemed to be offended by my bargaining? Uhhh ma'am, if your prices are firm then just say so.
her: "Well you see, this belonged to my sister."
me: "Ok, so you're not willing to take that price for it?"
her: "You see these things are really hard to find."
me: "Ok, i'll pass"
her: "Well, you are buying several things. Ok, i'll do it for that price."
me: (thought bubble) Geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
To top it off she doesn't even have regular business hours! She is open when she wants to be?! Come on lady, you can't have your cake and eat it too.
Anywho, I found some fab finds like...vintage cheese graters that also hang dish towels, a couple of vintage tins, a vintage nautical clock that also keeps track of the tide, a wicked cool vintage ashtray with "Jerusalem" and an Isalei skyline on it, a barrel mug, and a pair of vintage baby s & p shakers. Wheeew!
All I wanted was a cool shower after all of that.

New Listing...First "Upcycled" item!
Wicked cool buttons I found while antiquing.
PS I went antiquing again today and found some great stuff including a patchwork piggy bank, two perfect condition 70's prints, some cool s & p shakers, and little vintage pitcher, and some unique wooden book ends. Excitement ensues!
Just Sold these babies!

Went Antique Shopping Again!
And here is one of the winners that caught my eye. I always seem to hit the antique shop here right at closing time so I will be going back tomorrow or the next day to finish my in depth hunting.
Also found the ceramic flying pig pictured and some cool vintage buttons that may be good to make earrings with. Love vintage shopping! It's instant satisfaction!

Vintage Items to Come!
Yay! I made to Tennessee for my desired vintage shopping trip. It was a success! I nabbed some vintage earrings, some drinking glasses, an old grocery store pricing stamp, and a crystal decanter.
So excited! Can't wait to get everything all shiny (as much as possible), photographed, and up for everyone to see.
Stay tuned...
Oh, PS My friend accompanied me and was beside herself when she found a vintage Teddy Ruxpin...

Adventures in Crafting
So sales have been slooooooowwwww and i'm sure i'm not the only one. I just finished my master's degree and am in the process of looking for a real world job again. Meanwhile, my bank accounts are slowly dwindling. I feel like i've been in this position so many times in my life, OVER it :).
So I've recently thought about incorporating some vintage pieces into my shop because that really seems to be a hot item on Etsy. I have a friend http://bit.ly/bgHqa0 who has done amazingly well with her vintage shop on Etsy and it has got me thinking.
I hit an antique store yesterday but was only successful in finding a cool necklace for myself (which was no vintage). Today though, I had lunch with some friends and got the scoop on some reportedly killer antique shops/auctions down the road in Tennessee...
