Insert something meaningful here...

hmm, this is subjectively meaningful though I guess everything is.

Just read on CNN (which I feel is getting closer and closer the the likes of Fox news every day) that the "Craigslist Killer" committed suicide!

I know this is quite a morbid subject but I have always been fascinated by serial killers. I am not sure if this guy can technically be classified as a serial killer but it seems that if he were not caught he would have continued and then would have most definitely fit the definition. I can't say that I feel sad about this man's suicide but I am empathetic for his family and friends. I don't really look at situations like this one with disgust or anger. I like to learn more about the person's upbringing, patterns, social/family life, etc. I am more interested than anything. Some may think that is weird but this is what I love.

I am a therapist though I don't work with adult offenders and needless to say I don't work with serial killers. But how cool would that be?!! Criminal profiling, forensic psychology...cool.
So suicide huh? Some may say "good riddance" "it's a sign of guilt" or something of that nature. I think "I wonder what was going on in his head?". Was it guilt? Was it sadness? Or was it fear of punishment? I think depending on where he fell on the spectrum of personalities it could be one or all (or more) of those things.

A true narcissist wouldn't necessarily commit suicide if caught. Neither would a psychopath (aka sociopath). Not that it is out of the question, but based on my knowledge, I would say that would not be the first route for those types of people.
What I know of this story is that this man's behaviors were very unexpected to the people who knew and loved him. That indicates that there was a part of him that was able to function well interpersonally. So why did this other side win out?

That's what intrigues me. If we all have different parts to our whole selves then what determines which side(s) will dominate? The obvious answer is nature/nurture. Yeah, I agree but there are times when patterns of human behavior cannot always be explained nature/nurture. No, i'm not insinuating there is some mystical force behind this. I'm just trying to point out that human behavior is NOT a straight line and predicting/explaining what may or already has happened requires flexibility and an open mind.

Food for thought.

To Do:

I must must must go vintage hunting soon, running out of items to list and need my fix. Back to work tomorrow (yes, found a part time gig offered by some gracious friends so I can survive while I job hunt) but only 4 hours so maybe in the afternoon given the inevitable rain that will come and ruin my chance to run or go to the dog park.
Visited an old friend this weekend, here are some pics (look at those cuties):
Oh, and I am officially a P-LCSW (this means I am a provisionally licensed therapist).

Where are you?

I recently received an convo from another blogger on etsy offering to include my shop in a giveaway she and her blog partner are holding soon. I accidentally deleted the convo and didn't get around to following them. If anyone know who I am speaking of or, if one of those lovely ladies happens to stop by, please let me know how I can get in touch!

Thanks

A Glimmer of Hope

So, I got a call this morning from a staffing firm out of Charlotte. The woman was calling about a position in a neighboring town to where I am now. While I have already decided I can't stay in this area right now, it was nice to hear someone interested! Gotta make some follow up calls today to some employers in areas I am interested in, here's hoping!

Agghhhh, I feel like i'm in a hamster wheel some days. Round and round I go with nothing to show for that round and round. I see lots of people around me who don't seem to be having the same problem...hmmmm.

I need a J-O-B

Graduate school is over and I need a job. I wouldn't say i'm excited about jumping back into the "real world" but my bank accounts cannot survive on the minimal etsy sales I have. I'm not new to professional work but having finally completed my master's degree will theoretically open more doors vocationally and will allow me more security with the idea of making money and moving up (if I so choose). Can I get some crossed fingers that I will get a call back (or two) soon for an interview??

I love the medieval times...always have.

This first picture is from the background fairy and it reminded me of me long-time interest in medieval Europe. I don't know what fascinates me about it but I can't seem to get enough of it. I have read many books set in that time period and while part of me is really glad that I did not have to live during that time I would really love to take a time machine back there for a day and just check things out!

Motivation Needed

I need need need to make some more pieces so I can keep posting throughout the week but I am soooo tired of being on the computer that all I want to do is lay on the couch (something that I do not do nearly enough). Here I come Mr. Couch...

Not really my couch
up /\ there but I would take it if it were offered to me :)

Anthropologie♥

My New Dishtowel

Man I love that store Anthropologie. Unfortunately this woman cannot afford the items for sale very often, especially not the lovely clothing. I visited the store today though and bought 3(!) things :). Yes they were all under $20 but they're damn cute and unique. It's a double edged sword when shopping makes you feel so good isn't it?
