Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I really liked the portions of this book that were narrated by the little boy. What an amazingly funny and charismatic character. I did not so much care for the chapters in between his narration in which other characters narrated. It was often hard to follow who was speaking, what they were speaking about, and how it related to the rest of the story. I could have done without those parts but really loved the main character's experiences. Very heartwarming and so sad at times. What a horrible time that was for the US and to hear an account from a character directly affected by 9-11 makes it impossible not to re-live what we all felt watching those events unfold.

The Girl Who Played with Fire

The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Loved this book. A continuation of great characters with some changes and some new faces. Cannot wait to read the third book. Heard there is a 4th manuscript in existence but the author's family is fighting over having it published. Sometimes I wish good series like this could go on forever. Guess that might take some of the fun out of it huh?

Great Book Alert!!!

Peace Like a River by Leif Enger

Unbelievable book in my opinion. The characters are in this book are so rich and interesting. One of the reviews reads that this book is why we read fiction in the first place and it is so true. The story is just so full of imagination and color (if that makes sense). I highly recommend this book if you like fiction. It's also set in the mid west which I have no connection to but others may like for that reason. You can pick this up at Amazon for about $10. Click the image to go to Amazon.
